This impressive 1871 Queen Victoria Gold Sovereign is a fine example of classic Victorian coinage, featuring the celebrated Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria. The obverse displays the youthful left-facing portrait of the Queen, surrounded by the traditional Latin inscription and retaining attractive golden lustre with strong detail throughout.
The reverse features the highly desirable Shield Back design, displaying the crowned Royal Arms within an ornate wreath, a design particularly popular with sovereign collectors. This example is identified as the Die #28 variety and has been professionally certified by PCGS and graded MS62. With its attractive appearance, historic Victorian character and collectable shield reverse, this is a superb addition to any British gold or sovereign collection.
