An attractive 1862 Victoria gold sovereign, graded AU58 by NGC. The obverse features Queen Victoria’s second Young Head portrait, designed by William Wyon, with the legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. The reverse displays the classic crowned Royal Arms shield, surrounded by a laurel wreath and designed by Jean Baptiste Merlen.
Presented in a high Almost Uncirculated grade, this is a particularly appealing example of a Victorian shield-back sovereign, with strong detail and attractive overall appearance.
