An attractive 1861 Victoria gold sovereign, graded AU55 by NGC. Featuring Queen Victoria’s classic Young Head portrait by William Wyon, with the crowned Royal Arms shield surrounded by a laurel wreath on the reverse.
This example is the sought-after repunched “E” in DEI variety, adding extra interest for collectors of Victorian sovereign varieties and minting errors. The 1861 issue had several known varieties, making this a particularly interesting example.
