1700 England William III Silver One Shilling 1S MS63

Description

This 1700 England silver shilling of William III features the king’s fifth laureate and draped bust facing right, surrounded by a toothed border and the Latin legend GVLIELMVS III DEI GRA. The reverse displays four crowned shields representing England, Scotland, France and Ireland, arranged in a cross around the central Lion of Nassau. The date appears divided by the crown above the English shield, with the surrounding legend MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX, meaning King of Great Britain, France and Ireland.

A fine example of late 17th-century English milled silver coinage, this shilling was struck during William III’s reign following the death of Queen Mary II. It has been graded MS63 by NGC, indicating a well-preserved Mint State coin with attractive original lustre.
